I am running for St. Albert Public School Board Trustee because I strongly believe in public education and I want to continue strengthening the education system. It is my strong belief that all students deserve a world-class and accessible public education system.
When elected, I would stand for:
Working with students, staff, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure the Public School System in St. Albert reflects current and future needs.
Advocating Governments for adequate funding models, a strong curriculum, safe and healthy school environments, and resources for a growing school district.
Safe spaces, so all students and staff feel welcome and secure.
Inclusive and barrier free schools for all students because we are a diverse district and need to ensure ALL students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Engaged global citizens.
Supports to help with gaps in education created during the pandemic.
Supports to help address the mental health concerns of both students and staff.
As a Public Board Trustee, I will work with fellow trustees and the district to establish a vision, set goals for student achievement, assess goals to measure progress, and promote accountability throughout the School Board. I will also work to allocate the district’s resources responsibly and create collaborative relationships—both inside the board and across the community. I commit to lead by example with open communication, collaboration, and adaptability with the clear goal of always putting students first.
I have chosen to be a resident of St. Albert for 10 years, because it is a strong and welcoming community to raise a family. My husband and I have one child in the school district and have been actively involved in their education. I am the current Board Chair for St. Albert Further Education, a volunteer with Special Olympics, a team leader for the Fringe, and a liturgical artist for several churches. I have also volunteered for school councils, school fundraising committees, and church boards over the years. I have a management diploma from the Northern Institute of Technology and have worked in the fields of management, visual merchandising, and event coordinating.
Please reach out to me, as I would like to hear your thoughts on Public Education.
Let’s continue to build a strong Public Education system here in St. Albert. On October 18th, please vote Marcus Hoople for St. Albert Public School Trustee.
